This site is operated by OzPetInsurance, a sole trader business registered in New South Wales, Australia, ABN 69 697 691 033. Contact: [email protected].
We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
What we collect
Very little, because this site does not run a quote form or a lead capture.
Information you give us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it to reply and nothing else.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our server and analytics record standard technical data:
- IP address (anonymised in analytics)
- Browser type and device type
- Pages viewed and time on page
- Referring website
- Approximate location, at city level
This is aggregate data used to understand which guides are useful. We do not attempt to identify individual visitors.
What we do not collect
- Your name, address or phone number
- Your pet's details
- Payment or financial information
- Anything you submit on an insurer's website after clicking through
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics to measure traffic. It sets cookies that record visit patterns in aggregate. You can opt out using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser settings. The site works normally either way.
Affiliate links may set a cookie recording that you arrived from this site, so the insurer can attribute a referral fee. This cookie contains no personal information about you.
Third party links
When you click through to an insurer, you leave this site. What happens next is governed by that company's privacy policy, not ours. We have no access to and no control over the information you provide them.
Each insurer publishes its own privacy policy, which governs what happens to any details you submit to them.
How we use information
Only for these purposes:
- Responding to emails you send us
- Understanding which content is useful, in aggregate
- Detecting and preventing technical abuse
- Meeting legal obligations
Disclosure
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. We disclose information only where required by Australian law, or to service providers who help operate the site (web hosting and analytics), who are bound to use it only for that purpose.
Data security and storage
Website data is stored on servers located in Australia. We apply reasonable technical measures including HTTPS encryption across the entire site. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Email correspondence is retained for as long as needed to handle your enquiry, then deleted. Analytics data is retained for 14 months.
Your rights
Under the Australian Privacy Principles you may:
- Request access to any personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of anything inaccurate
- Request deletion, subject to legal retention requirements
- Complain about how we have handled your information

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Children
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the date at the top of the page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
